Walsh Prints helps authors, designers, makers, educators and small publishers make informed production decisions. Our goal is simple: explain the factors that affect a printed project, give a reasoned recommendation and leave you with a practical next step.
How we choose topics
We focus on the questions that arise when an idea or design becomes a physical product. That can mean choosing paper or cardstock, preparing print files, comparing binding and finishing methods, planning quantities, assessing production options or selecting a printing service.
Each article is shaped around a specific reader decision. We consider the intended format, how the finished item will be used, the desired quality, quantity and budget when those details change the right choice. The aim is useful coverage that moves a project forward, rather than a list of disconnected specifications.
Researching the practical details
Articles draw on manufacturer documentation, official printing specifications, primary publishing resources and current product or service information. We compare relevant details such as materials, dimensions, file requirements, production methods, finishing choices, minimum quantities and prices when they affect the recommendation.
Important technical and factual assertions connect to appropriate sources so readers can check the underlying information. For current supplier details, we look for the provider’s own documentation. For production methods and technical requirements, we prioritize manufacturers, recognized standards and other suitable primary sources.
Facts, tests and recommendations
We separate documented facts from editorial judgment. Specifications, prices and stated capabilities are presented as researched information. Recommendations explain how the evidence applies to a real print project, including tradeoffs in cost, durability, appearance, lead time and production scale.
When an article discusses documented testing, it should make the scope and source of that testing clear. Researched advice is not presented as first-hand testing. If the available information does not support a firm conclusion, we identify that uncertainty rather than present an assumption as fact.
Keeping guidance current
Printing processes, materials, prices and vendor information can change. We revisit articles when new information makes a practical difference to the reader’s decision, and we update material errors when they are identified.
